4 Steps to Finding the Right Business

In this blog I want to touch more on the Network Marketing/Direct Selling field. This can include any of those work from home businesses. You might also find it helpful if you are considering starting a business in the Network Marketing/Direct Sells field or even if you are looking for a “traditional” job. However know that I am speaking to a select group of you who either: Go from business to business or who have multiple businesses that you have jumped into at once.

successpictureIf you fall into anyone of these areas and you are struggling on figuring out a path, are discouraged or frustrated with where you are now, then these steps are here to provide you with a sense of direction on where to go next.

I’ve come up with 4 Easy steps to figuring out where to go and what to do next. Three of these steps are fairly easy, but one is going to push you to be honest and to do a little bit of work. Trust me if will be worth it in the end. 😀 So let’s jump right in shall we?

There are 4 Steps to Finding the Right Business, as I call it. These steps are: Stop, Step Back, Re-evaluate, Decide. That’s it! I’ll break these down for you, so you can follow along in each step.

Step 1: Stop
No matter where you are at right now in your business or businesses, stop. Just put the phone down, put the pen down, close the book, get up and walk away.

Step 2: Step Back
At this point, take a step back, take some time and relax, clear your mind and your emotions and feelings. Find a calming place where you can go and not think about stress or what is or isn’t working. I would recommend no more then 24-48 hours if possible. You don’t want to wait too long before you move on to the next step. So take no more than 24-48 hours to step back and clear your head.

Step 3: Re-evaluate

Now comes the fun part, in order for this to work, you MUST be honest with yourself. You may not like it, but you need to be honest about what you are doing and what you aren’t. Keep in mind that the only person who is going to see this, is you. So if you are telling others that you are putting in 5 hours a week, when you are only putting in an hour a week, then you need to be honest and write that down. No one will know, but you.

You will also need some paper and a pen before you get started, find a quiet place and sit down. Got it? Great! So let’s get started.

First Step:
Write down every business you have or are in right now and what they are about.
Write down how long you were in each?
Why did you join each one?
What were your expectations for those businesses?
How much time did you put into your business? (be HONEST!!)
What did you like about each business?
What did you dislike about each business?

Second Step:
What do you want?
What do you like, what is your passion for?
What do you not want to do?
What expectations do you have?
What is your why? Why do you want to do this? What is so important to you that you want to take this step?

Third Step:
What do you want from a business?
Do you want to stock product?
Do you want a business that will benefit your family now? Or later?
Do you want a business with competition or without?
Do you want something that you may spend money to get in, but get it back? Or do you want to just drop money on it?
Do you want a company that has a good training support?

*People can be in the same company, but have different visions.

Forth Step:
What are you willing to do?
How much time are you willing to give to your business a week? (again be HONEST!!!!)
Are you willing to plug into your company training?
Are you willing to go to your company’s training meetings?
How much are you willing to spend? (This is inevitable…you will have to spend money, how much is up to you.)
How much time are you willing to commit before giving up? A few months, a year, three years?
Are you willing to get in on phone calls?
Are you willing to talk to people?
Are you willing to step out of your comfort zone?
Are you willing to make yourself teachable?
Are you willing to set realistic goals or are you going to expect to make thousands out of the gate?

Once you can answer these questions the next step is Decide.

Step 4: Decide

For this one, you will need to decide between the companies you have been in and or are in at this time. Which one of those fits into what you are looking for? It’s going to be important to know that whatever you decide, you will have to put the work into it and be realistic. Don’t think that you can make 2000 in a month if you are going to only put in an hour or two a week. At the same time, don’t expect that you will be successful right off the bat, give yourself time, you may need to learn and grow yourself, before you can get where you want. Either way, make a decision at this point. Pick a business that fits and then stick with it. If you have multiple business, pick the one for you and drop the others.

Now you may be saying…”But I like the products and the discounts!” Great!! But take a closer look at the discounts. You might find you get a bigger discount by being a preferred customer, than by being a rep.

But what if what I want isn’t any of the ones I’ve done!” GREAT! Then start looking!! The best place to start, is to check out the 2015 DSN North America 50 List, it’s a smaller list and it’s a national list. If there is nothing there, than expand to the 2015 DSN Global 100 List for Direct Selling Companies. Those companies have been around for a while, they are established and they are growing!! You can also compare this year’s list to the previous one to see the growth of each company.  All in all, I think that those would be good places to start! Go through list, if you know you don’t want a make-up company, than mark off all the ones you know are make-up companies and look at the remainder ones on the list.

From there look up the company website, mark off the ones you come across that doesn’t mean your requirements. These days you can’t tell what a company sells just by looking at the name, so looking up their website will allow you to make sure. Some of those sites will also allow you to search for a rep in your area to reach out to. Once you go through the list and find a company (or companies), reach out to the reps to get all the information you can from them. Remember they are also customers, so they can tell you about their experience as well. Also remember talking to a rep doesn’t mean you are committed to that company, it just means you are getting more information to make a decision! After that it’s time to make a decision and go for it! Let go of the other businesses and focus solely on the one at hand, but be sure to put in the time it will take and do what you say you will do!

Do you want to help others? Have no competition? Be a part of a Global company? Have no worry of risk? Have a great support system? Or do you know what you want, but don’t know what where to start? Whether you are looking for a company or trying to decide, Click Here and to start your journey!
